Dolphins Trade For Marshall: Complete Contract

The Dolphins have completed today what may be the trade of the decade for this team in terms of impact on the field.

The Fins needed a game breaking wide receiver, and they went out and got one in Brandon Marshall. Once the price on Marshall went down from a 1st round pick, to at least a 2nd rounder, the Dolphins went all in, and only came away from the deal having to give up this years 2nd round pick, and next years 2nd round as well.

The trade is of course pending the pass of Marshall’s physical, and the league approval, but that is highly expected to happen at some point today.

Also, according to Adam Schefter, who first broke the news of the trade this morning, the Dolphins and Marshall have completed the terms of the contract as well. Marshall will be in Miami for the next five years, and over that time, will make a total of $50 million, with $24 million guaranteed. The Dolphins signed Marshall to a four year extension on top of his one year, $2.5 million tender that he signed yesterday.

The Dolphins have just made Marshall the highest paid receiver in the league with this contract. More to come on the trade later, and it’s impact on the Dolphins receiving core.
