Get to Know the Newest Dolphin: Karlos Dansby

I hope all of you Phin fans are as excited as I am over this signing. Dansby was possibly one of the best defensive players available and we got him! His size (6’3, 251 lbs) and speed (ran a 4.56 forty) make him a tremendous asset to the Dolphins.

So, with that said, I think it would be best if we got to know Dansby a little better.

Karlos Montez Dansby was born on November 3rd, 1981 in Birmingham, Alabama. He was an All-State linebacker and wide receiver when he was at Woodlawn High, in Birmingham, Alabama. He was also an All-State basketball player. He went to college at Auburn (with Ronnie Brown) and originally started as a strong safety.  He was shifted to linebacker as a sophomore. He was an All-American as a senior, after he recorded 76 tackles and 4 sacks.

Dansby was drafted by the Cardinals in the 2nd round of the 2004 draft. He started 12 games as a rookie and recorded 68 tackles, the most out of any rookie. He made the All-Rookie team. Last season, he had 109 tackles, 1 forced fumble, and an interception.

I hope you guys are now as excited as I am to have Dansby aboard!

  1. Was that a typo or did he really only have 36 tackles as a senior?
