Porter Most Likely Not Coming Back

Outside linebacker Joey Porter was on a radioshow recently in his hometown of Bakersfield, California and said that he was not happy with his role on the Dolphins this past season, and hopes not to return to the team.

Could this be because he was in the doghouse for most of the season? Could this be because he got suspended mid-way through the season for reasons unknown to the media? Could this be because he is frustrated with his statistics the past year, and the willingness of the Dolphins brass to replace him so quickly?

How about all of the above.

Porter had a great 2008 season, in leading the Dolphins defense to the AFC East Division Title. But on the other end of the spectrum, he finished with a terrible performance in the 2009 season.

At times Porter would send players subbing in for him back to the sideline, especially on 3rd downs, and this is most likely why he was suspended for one game.

The coaches did not want to “tip the Joey boat”, and I do not know if you have noticed, but the Trifecta are not the kind of people to walk on eggshells for very long.

If Porter wants to be elsewhere next year so be it. This just means that we will re-sign Jason Taylor to a new contract and have him return to his old position at weakside linebacker.

See ya Peezy, good luck next year wherever you end up.

  1. I’ll miss him, if he does go.

He was a fun guy to root for
